National Education Policy 2020- A mission with a broad vision.
The Principal of MITCON International School, Ms. Monika Chhabra hosted a very informative virtual meeting about NEP-2020 on Saturday, 20.02.21 to enlighten the parents about the same.
The objective of the meeting was to share all aspects of NEP and also ideas and insights about how the school will contribute to improve student learning by following the NEP 2020.
A Power point presentation was used as a medium to understand the aims and objectives in a precise manner. Parents of all the grades from Nursery to 8 have attended this meeting in different time slots.
Principal explained Salient Features of Stages in School and the various subjects to be covered. The new pedagogical and curricular structure is transformed to 5+3+3+4.
Ma’am described that NEP will encourage 21st Century Skills in the Classroom like- Critical thinking, Digital Literacy, Scientific Temperament and Social Responsibility. NEP incorporates the professional development of teachers by providing specified number of trainings over an academic year.
An approach of skill-based learning from an early foundation level of academics will help learners identify skill sets much earlier thereby empowering students to be future ready. Therefore NEP introduces 9 vocational courses of 12 hour duration in classes 6-8 namely photography, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Language etc. Project-based learning, vocational learning at an early age and learning of life skills and inclusion of technology will help a child realize ambitions, gain multi-dimensional knowledge and universal skills and lay the foundation for higher education. These skills will imbibe the quality of job creator rather than a seeker.
Apart from this other aspects of NEP were discussed.
A vote of thanks was given by the Principal to all the parents and an appreciation note for maintaining the decorum and giving this meeting a big success. The meeting was concluded by answering queries raised by the parents.
