A classroom at MIS revolves around the Theory of Multiple Intelligence, as delivered by world renown educationist Prof. Howard Gardner, and it takes the STEAM approach.
With the practical implementation of the Theory of Multiple Intelligence, we are able to focus on every child, since there are different types of learners in a classroom who absorb concepts in their own unique way.
STEAM is an approach of delivering education to children to prepare them in Science and Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics, the core building blocks for any kind of livelihood. It also prepares the child for all competitive exams.
The child undergoes 5A’s of a classroom experience:
AIM: Students know what they will learn rather than Chapter Numbers or Page Numbers
ACTION: Students experience the concepts themselves through hands- on activities and experimentation to understand their use and application in real life.
ANALYSIS: Students reflect on the experience and explore the concept further through questions & answers.
APPLICATION: Students use workbooks to apply and practice what they’ve learnt and improve their writing skills.
ASSESSMENT: Students take periodic tests that measure and give feedback on development in 3 key areas: Conceptual Understanding, Applied Thinking, and English language & comprehension.
- Conceptual Understanding : understanding the concepts and retaining it for a longer duration of time
- Applied Thinking : applying these concepts in real world scenario
- Communication Skills : making the child bold and confident to be able to talk in public, fluently in English, in his/her own words
The weekly MAX digital lab class trains the students to think, write, speak and experiment on their own, under the guidance of trained staff. A monthly feedback to the parents on their mobile app features not just subject score, but the skill scores of their child as well.
A specially designed Parent Handbook helps parents work with their child at home. We understand that in this fast paced corporate life style it becomes difficult to spend too much time on academics with the kids. Thus, the parent handbook aims to support the parents with short 15-minute activities with their children to help them further with their studies. The parent mobile app holds answer keys to the parents to assess their child’s performance along with remedies.
